The flamboyant showman was the discoverer of the midget Tom Thumb, Jenny Lind (the Swedish Nightingale) and the counterfeit Feejee Mermaid. He founded the famous Barnum and Bailey Circus.
Probably to Martin Farquhar Tupper (1810 1889 English Poet).
