WAUGH (Evelyn, 1903-1966, Author)

Autograph Postcard Signed with initials "EW" to Terence Concannon in Sheffield, thanking him for his "letter & your continued interest. (1) Preface to 'Bassington' 1947. (2) I wrote four articles for Life, all but one of which were reprinted here in Tablet or Month. That one was Fanfare in 1946. If this is unprocurable I can lend you a copy ...", 1 side postcard with autograph address on the verso, Piers Court, nr Dursley, Glos, 8th October

In 1947 Waugh wrote an introduction to Saki's only novel 'The Unbearable Bassington'. Waugh observed that Saki, in writing his short stories, seemed to have "conformed too complacently to the requirements of the editors of the time; perhaps this was a defect in his exemplary literary tact."
