Very rare pair of original unsigned photographs very early images of the Princess, the first one taken in 1864 at the time of her engagement to Grand Duke Nicholas, showing her full length in a beautiful dress and jacket, and the second photograph shows her in mourning after his death, head and shoulders, wearing black,each 3½" x 2¼", no place, no date, circa

Sadly the Tsarevitch, Grand Duke Nicholas, was to die before the marriage. The second photograph shows her in mourning soon after his death, and before her engagement to his brother Alexander which turned out to be an extremely happy marriage.
