Buchan was honoured with the appointment to the Order of St. Michael and St. George on 23rd May 1935, as well as being elevated to the peerage, when he was ennobled by King George V as Baron Tweedsmuir, of Elsfield in the County of Oxford on 1st June just a few weeks before this letter.
