Before WWI Ernst was London correspondent of the ‘Neues Wiener Tagblatt’. In 1909 he returned to medicine but retained a lively interest in international affairs and the means of promoting peace.
Hertz was Chief Rabbi for the period that encompassed both World wars and the Holocaust.
