MACFARREN
(Sir George Alexander, 1813-1887, Composer of 'The Devil's Opera', 1837, and Professor at the RAM)
Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Hunt,
saying that "next to the regret I feel at your present situation is that at my own in being quite unable to help you" but sending "a trifle ... I take you at your word that 'anything' will be of use to you" which is "truly all I can afford", 1 side oblong folio, addressee's name on verso, no place, no date, old pencilled year
An early signature, before blindness compelled Macfarren to use an assistant. An early hand has overwritten the addressee's name as 'Mr Saidman', with a few flourishes.
