NASH
(John, 1893-1977, R.A., Painter, War Artist, Illustrator and Engraver)
Autograph Letter Signed 'John'
to Mrs Winifred Arnold of Little Baddow, near Chelmsford, saying "We were both very sorry to hear about your husband's death ... I feel terribly guilty about you as you wanted me to try & help on the exhibition before & I could not see my way to doing any thing ... Would I be right in saying in my note that you took up painting 'at a mature age'? You always seemed so active & youthful in your outlook! Shingles are bad enough", he wonders "what you will do now that you have sold your house. I go to Flatford for the Plant Drawing Course this July after an absence of 3 years" where he hopes to see "one or two of the 'old gang' ... Mrs Eppstein and others are coming", 2 sides 8vo., Bottengoms Farm, Wormingford, Essex, 18th May
