SHACKLETON
(Lady Emily,1868-1936, wife of the Explorer)
Fine Autograph Letter Signed to Mr Frewer
saying that she was glad he had sent a “post card as I am here for 2 or 3 days staying with an aunt who is kindly taking care of a box of papers for me... I did not know if I had put in the enclosed - or if it was warehoused - but I have found it and I think you will like it better than a signature on a cheque. My husband ‘autographed’ it and it was a letter to me written during the war just after the ‘Endurance’ Expedition when he was on his way to or from the Ross Sea to rescue the other men...”, with a postscript about their son Eddie who “will be going to Radley in Sept, all well - he has just got an ‘exhibition’...”, 2 sides 8vo., Corrie Lodge, Eastbourne, 6th April
