Fine Typed Letter Signed to Samuel BICKERSTETH (1857-1937, Canon of Leeds Minster and later Librarian of Canterbury Cathedral) thanking him for his letter and saying that his “heart is most thoroughly with the ‘Friends of Canterbury’ and I only wish that my purse enabled me to show it, - but I really cannot. I shall always be very glad to help you in any way I can, however. You were most kind to us on Saturday and my friends and myself saw Canterbury from a new point of view. I do hope that we did not inconvenience you and that your family have forgiven me...”, with an autograph note signed by the recipient “The letter was written by him to me after I showed him and Lord Thompson our Cathedral Library June 23 1928, & he is a little mixed in his ecclesiastical titles...”, 1 side 4to., House of Commons headed paper, 26th. Finely penned Document signed, in French with translation, to the President of Peru, (Mariano Ignacio Prado, 1826-1902, three times President of Peru between 1865 and 1879, the first time as dictator), saying he has resolved to accredit to the President M. Domet de Vorges as Minister Plenipotentiary, mentioining the latter's "spirit of conciliation and his patriotism", asking him to place confidence in all he shall say on the writer's behalf, especially in conveying his good wishes and esteem, signed also by William Henry Waddington (1826-1894, French Foreign Minister and Prime Minister), 1 side folio, Paris, 15th December a few short closed tears in blank portions, light creasing in right margin, small defect in top left corner
