I should earnestly warn him against those anapestic metres", the next sentence is written with the metre displayed "I love / to gaze / on the trackless deep /", continuing "which in our language must by filled up with iambic instead of spondees, and so go lilting on three legs, like a yankee trotting mare, to the destruction of all grace & dignity.
