acknowledging receipt of his "two papers, and to say my earliest leisure shall be given to an attentive perusal of them. The subjects are good and a portion of such matter much be daily administered. You shall hear at greater length from me within a day or two. I am having a long promised visit to some friends who insist on finding amusement for very hour in the day, and you know what labour and emotional slavery this imposes, but one is obliged to submit with as good a grace as possible.
