Autograph Letter Signed to Admiral Sir Richard Thomas, (1777-1857, C-in-C Pacific 1841-1844), saying "You performed the very delicate task ... with great tact & judgment", & congratulating him "as an old friend", with on sides 2 and 3, copies in Thomas' hand of two letters to him, in the first Mr. Pitt Adams, Chargé d'Affaires in Lima, writes "H.M. Govt. have entirely approved all our proceedings at Islay & Arica ... I was ordered to renew as demands the proposals we made to the Supreme Junta at Arequipa ... up to the last moment ... Castilla ... shewed the most strenuous resistance", he lists the British ships "at the ready ..." but at length the Peruvian Government agreed "to every demand, including the apology ... for the language used towards you by the Govr. of Islay", he refers to the same "cordial harmony" with Sir G. Seymour, Thomas' successor (23rd June 1845), in the second Consul-General Miller in Honolulu congratulates him on "not only the good will and affection of these Islanders, but ... the entire approbation of Her Majesty's Government, which I think is ... the most gratifying reward that a good Officer can aspire to" (20th May 1845), together 3 sides 8vo, note by Thomas on 4th side, Bishopsgate Cottage, Chertsey, Lima and Honolulu, 20th May - 20th August

Fine Programme of Music by the 'Coldstream Band', (at the dinner celebrating their 200th Anniversary), printed in gold in a most attractive lacy impressed border, the music (conducted by Charles Godfrey, 1790-1863, bandmaster to the Coldstream Guards for 50 years, father of Daniel and grandfather of Sir Dan Godfrey), including a 'Valse et Galop de Fascination' from 'Alina' by Gounod, a selection from Mozart's Figaro, a waltz, 'Les Plaisirs du Bal', by Mrs. A. Woodford, (Charlotte Mary Ann, née Fraser, d. 1870), and ending with a 'Double March Composed by H.R.H. the Princess Mary of Cambridge', (Mary Adelaide, 1833-1897, mother of Queen Mary), 1 side 9" x 7½" and conjugate blank, St James's Palace, 22nd May in fine condition

Document Signed to Captain Sir William HOSTE Captain of H.M. Ship Amphion (1780-1828, 1st Baronet, Navy Officer who served in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars) sending him his orders “to proceed immediately off Toulon, and watch the motions of the French Squadron there. If on your way to Toulon you should fall in with either of the Ships named in the Margin, and they not have dispatches on board from England - you are to take one of them under your orders, directing the others to join me off Marilimmo. In the event of the sailing of the Enemy’s Squadron from Toulon, one of the frigates is to keep sight of them - while the others proceeds by the West Side of Sardinia off Palermo, and between it, and Marilimo, with intelligence of what direction the Enemy appears to be taking. The Rendezvous of the Squadron which will proceed as soon as the Ships come out of Palermo will be from 20 to 15 leagues South of Toulon...”, the ships named in the margin are Proserpine, Hind and Lavinia, 1 side folio, “Given on board the Ocean at Sea”, 26th April
