'made to order' ... I should doubt the efficacy of camphor ... and yet [insects] certainly have existed here, and do not now, and we use nothing but camphor! Braunholtz, 1888-1963, of the British Museum, enclosing "a brief sketch of the material culture of the Hebe, together with further notes on the specimens sent you ... the names of the pottery-making instruments are, to the best of my knowledge, the correct versions ... The smoothing stone ... is usually called ki-garga, ki being a diminutive ... when the smallness rather than the 'stoneness' is being emphasised. The word you understood to mean skin is a phonetic impossibility", Brown has written it as 'ng'ingo' , he is arranging to send "a full set of pot-making tools" and asks, "Would you be interested in specimens of Samoan culture? ...
