(1880-1961, 12th Baronet, Ambassador and Racehorse Owner), supposing "that Tudor Minstrel was disinclined to settle down in the Derby after having been rushed along for the one mile in the Two Thousand" and comparing the higher standard of breeding in France, "the lady (who had tea with us at Ascot) was the Comtesse d'Audiffret-Pasquier", about Darius' photo-finish at Ascot "one must expect, both here and in France, that the 3-year old form is very uncertain", discussing the form of Darius and Acropolis, "What is your opinion of the present day talk of the jockey having to keep the horse back till he thinks fit to make the final challenge, perhaps 2 furlongs away - perhaps more ...
