Sir Francis assisted Sir Henry Cole, Secretary of the Science and Art Department at South Kensington, in international exhibitions at Paris, 1855 and 1857, and Vienna, 1873. He superintended the British section at the Paris exhibition, 1878, and continued to organise succeeding exhibitions.
