CAMBRIDGE (Margaret, 1873-1929, 3rd daughter of the 1st Duke of Westminster, Wife of Adolphus, 1st Marquess of Cambridge, 1868-1927)

Autograph letter on Postcard, signed 'Yr. loving Mama', with a picture of the 13th century Marienkirche at Neubrandenburg, Mecklenburg-Strelitz, to Prince GEORGE OF TECK, (1895-1981, 2nd and last Marquess of Cambridge), at Henry III Tower, Windsor Castle, saying "This Church has beautiful arches, & Papa & I went to see it ... Hope you are back safe", 2 sides 8vo., Neubrandenburg, postmarked Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, 17th October

The Tecks were of the Royal Family of Württemberg, but by a morganatic marriage. Queen Victoria thought this no disadvantage and Francis, 1st Duke, married the Queen's cousin, Princess Mary Adelaide of Cambridge (1833-1897). They exchanged their German title for Cambridge in 1917, Francis' son Adolphus becoming the 1st Marquess.
