Lord Falmouth served in Egypt, being present at Tell-el-Kebir, 1882, was assistant military secretary to the C-in-C, Ireland, and was Colonel commanding the Coldstream Guards. In 1891 he succeeded his mother as 24th Baron Despencer, and from 1898 was a member of the Jockey Club.
