POYNTER
(Sir Edward J., 1836-1919, Painter, President of the Royal Academy)
Pair of Autograph Letters Signed to CHAMPNEYS
(Basil, 1842-1935, Architect), firstly telling him that "In principle I am quite in accord with the memorial, but I think it would be rather rash of me to sign it in support without knowing why the proposal has been made - there may be excellent reasons ...", and the next day he asks him "Will this do? for the Master of Fellows? My reasons could not of course be included in an appeal thro the Times ... perhaps the authorities may give in, in which case a letter to the Times would be unneccessary ...", each 1 side 8vo., 70 Addison Road headed paper, 24th and 25th November
