Fine Document in Spanish, signed as King 'Yo El Rey' addressed to Hernando Ganoguera, Captain General of the Kingdom of Mallorca, requesting information about Francisco Montaner who is wishing to take over the vacancy as Major Sergeant in the Island of Mallorca after the death of former Major Sergeant the King explains that "in caconsideration of all –the time- he has served in the State of Milan, and that he will make abandonment of eight shields of advantage from his ordinary shield that he has in these states, since he wants to continue my Royal service as a Major Sergeant of the outlands of this Kingdom, replacing the death of Francisco Dezpuig, let this request be granted and before this is made, I want to have information of yours about the salary and duties that this shield has ...", with several countersignatures, including the King's secretary Villanueva, 1 side folio, Madrid, 5th December

Philip III was also King of Portugal, Naples, Sicily and Sardinia and Duke of Milan from 1598 until his death.

Espectse mi lugarte. y capn. genL. Don Francisco Montaner me ha dado un mem. En que refiere, que teniendo consideracion a lo que ha servido enel estado de Milan, y que hara dexacion de ocho escudos de ventaja amas desu placa ordinaria que tiene en los dichos estados, ya que desea continuar mi Real servicio con la de sargento mayor de la parte Forana desse Reyno, que vaca por muerte de Francisco Dezpuig sea servido hazerle m'rd della, y porque antes de proveerla quiero tener información v'ra de lo que refiere y del sueldo y obligaciones que tiene la dicha placa y de la satisfacción que teneys dela persona y servicios del dicho don Francisco Montaner, os encargo y mando me avisareys particularmente de todo con vro parecer.
