NASH (John, 1893-1977, R.A., Painter, War Artist, Illustrator and Engraver)

Autograph Letter Signed 'John' to Mrs Winifred Arnold of Little Baddow, near Chelmsford, apologizing for not writing before "to thank you for your kind gifts. The fact is we were away in Skye and ... prolonged our stay as the weather there was so fine and I was able to work", followed by the Aldeburgh Festival, he is very glad the treatment "for the slipped disc has been so successful resulting in a 'spending spree' in London! ... I'm glad the show was such a success for the Retarded Children. My show which you saw at Chelmsford is now at Worthing ... Flatford is the next task ... though I do get terribly stiff ... my old bones seem positively waterlogged! ...", 2 sides 8vo., Bottengoms Farm, Wormingford, Essex, 20th June

Winifred Arnold had attended John's courses at Flatford. In May 1970 he had written a note for her own catalogue, "I remember her pressing me for instruction in perspective and other professional aspects ... but I fended off these requests ... objects were as she saw them and she made them conform to her vision ".
