RUTHERSTON (Albert, 1881-1953, Figure & Landscaper Painter, Illustrator)

Autograph Letter Signed to “Dear Couverie” thanking him for his letter and apologising for not answering sooner as his show has “kept me more than busy. I will certainly send Davies a catalogue so soon as Sotheby’s sends them along. I’m delighted to hear that he is interested and that you formed a good opinion of the collection although I was certain that you would do so. I hung my show at the Crichton yesterday & this morning & am filled with that sort of black depression I get always on seeing my work hung up en masse, the the world’s judgement... it’s a horrible feeling. Tomorrow perhaps I’ll feel more happy about it. I intend going into my private view latish both Friday & Saturday - about 4.30. I don’t wish to appear either day but the Crichton insist - virtually - that I should. I hope... that you are better & entirely revived again & we hope to see you very soon. It is most good of you to have interested Davies over the collection...”, 1 side 4to., 11 New Square, Lincoln’s Inn, 1st November
