Background
Sir Frank founded a repertory company to produce Shakespeare, and was responsible for 26 annual Shakespeare festivals at Stratford-upon-Avon. He was the only actor ever to have been knighted in a theatre, by George V at the Shakespeare Tercentenary at Drury Lane, when a sword was hurriedly procured for the royal box from a military outfitter's nearby.
