Background
Mathilde died, surrounded by musician friends, at a party at the Savoy to launch her book 'Chords of Remembrance', 1936. In 1911 she took the young Solomon into her school and boarded and educated him. The Duchess of York, the present Queen Mother, was patron of the school and a close friend of Mathilde's.
