Fox spent three months in Paris in 1802 with his wife during the Peace of Amiens, ostensibly to get transcribed some correspondence, which he needed for his proposed life of James II. He began by going every day to the French Foreign Office, but continued in a social whirl, invited to dine by Napoleon, then 1st Consul, and by many of the leaders of the day. At Marshal Berthier's he found himself discussing Napoleonic strategy with Masséna. Pierre Marie, 1755-1823, from 1818 Marquis de Grave, was an Orleanist by patronage and by sympathy. He was Minister of War 9th March - 8th May 1792, when Dumouriez was promoting war against Austria via her possessions in Belgium, but resigned after the initial disasters. In August 16th 1792 he deserted with La Fayette from the Armée du Nord, and spent till 1800 in England.Rue de Sève is the old name for the Rue de Sèvres.
