Background
Bromfield joined the French Army in 1914, was awarded the Croix de Guerre, and returned to journalism in America. His novels include 'The Green Bay Tree', 1924, and 'Early Autumn' which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1926. Eileen Cond was a book collector who sent out her bookplate to her favourite authors, many of whom signed and returned them to her. Among the most notable was Ian Fleming.
