Background
Lord Courtney was Professor of Political Economy at University College, London, 1872-1875, and in Parliament became Deputy Speaker, 1886-1892. O.G. Villard, 1872-1949, was editor and proprietor of the New York 'Nation'. He wrote several books about the German situation, including 'Prophets True and False', 1928, and about newspapers and journalism.
