I had a letter from Collins today saying they are very keen on the autumn novel except for the title 'Castle of Ghosts'. I think they are wrong. Anyway, this new contract with me is twice as good as the last, so all's well, with on the verso a photo of South Down sheep grazing, Ditchling, Sussex, 28th June

Background
Farjeon was an editor for Amalgamated Press, 1910-1920, and, besides his books, contributed to many journals, including 'Punch' as 'Smith Minor'. Eileen Cond was a book collector who sent out her bookplate to her favourite authors, many of whom signed and returned them to her. Among the most notable was Ian Fleming.
