FARSON

(James Negley, 1890-1960, American Writer)
Typed Letter Signed on postcard to Eileen Cond,
saying You ask, I am afraid, the impossible. I have two cousins who wanted the same thing... The last place that went, a cottage on the beach, with some 35 acres of land, went for £6,800... The rush for small houses swept this place almost two years back. One, two houses from my own, has been offered for £8,000, postmarked Braunton, Devon, 23rd August

Background
Negley Farson trained as an engineer, but came to England and thence to Russia, where he had an export business and witnessed the 1917 revolution. His adventurous life thereafter as airman, sailor and journalist is reflected in his books. Eileen Cond was a book collector who sent out her bookplate to her favourite authors, many of whom signed and returned them to her. Among the most notable was Ian Fleming.
