Background
Gibbs was correspondent for the Daily Chronicle in WW1. He wrote books on his war experiences, on current affairs and on travel, including 'The New Elizabethans', 1953, and several successful novels including 'The Street of Adventure', 1909, about Fleet Street. Eileen Cond was a book collector who sent out her bookplate to her favourite authors, many of whom signed and returned them to her. Among the most notable was Ian Fleming.
