Count Joannes Pongrátz, junior, of Ovár and Szent-Miklós, Chamberlain of... His Majesty, the Emperor Franz I, and Secretary of the Council of the Royal Dominion of Hungary,... in her usual residence in the Castle of Buda, being present in person before him, trusting in the sincere honesty and skill in business of her said husband... chose... him her... Signed also by Joseph Stoffer, secretary of the Palatine Office. As regent for the Emperor, Joseph presided over a period of immense upheaval, but earned the respect of many by his promotion of education, manufactures and trade. Magyar replaced Latin as the official language in 1839.
