Autograph Postcard Signed to Ferdinand L. Leipnik, 1869-c.1924,
the Hungarian journalist and WWI intermediary, editor of the 'Pester Lloyd', 1907-1911, saying I share your sorrow at the lamented death of Sir Wm. Whitall. I much regret the retirement of Mr. E[dward] A[tkin]. This has nothing whatever to do with politics nor the remotest connection with our F.O. policy... There has recently been a debate in the H. of Commons as to officials belonging to any political association... I regret that silly people imagine absurd suspicions, 1 side postcard, Elm Hill, Hawkhurst, 28th April
Leipnik built up a remarkable network of diplomatic contacts in Budapest, and in neutral Holland in WWI relayed peace feelers from the Austrian Foreign Minister to Great Britain.
