Background
Caradoc was commissioned first in 1815, but the situation in Europe brought many postings combining diplomacy and a military career. As minister to Brazil, 1847-1850, he broke up the British and French blockade of Buenos Ayres, and he was minister to Madrid, 1850-1858.
