Background
Thyra, Duchess of Cumberland, was never close to her sisters, Alexandra and Marie, so it is unusual to find them linking arms as in this image. Marie was formerly Princess Marie Bonaparte. She became a well known psychoanalyst and friend of Sigmund Freud who she rescued from Nazi controlled Austria in 1938.
