Background
Signed the day after Bleriot's historic crossing of the English Channel from Calais to Dover which had taken place on 25th July. He pilotted the Bleriot XI, a monplane with 28hp engine which he had designed himself and won a prize of £1000 offered by the London Daily Mail.
The picture has been professionally restored and de-acidified to ensure that it will not discolour.
