Background
Provenance. By descent from the son of the person it was given to who worked at Windsor.Beaton's famous photographs of Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace in 1939 established a new romantic image for the monarchy. He subsequently photographed her five times between 1947 and 1957 and deliberately tried to re-create the spirit of the 1939 image - the be-spangled crinoline dress with lots of diamond jewellery.
