the first acknowledges tythes Then receied from the Revd James Stopford, Vicr of Finglas thirty pounds sterl on account of the Rectorial Tythes of the Parish of Finglas for the year 1733... due to the Revd Doctor Delaney, I say, received by me Jonath. Swift, the second receipt, immediately below is for twenty two pounds, 5½ x 3½, 1 side 8vo., 26th October and 8th February

Background
James STOPFORD (died 1759), bishop of Cloyne, born in London, was the son of Joseph Stopford, a captain in the English army. He entered Trinity College, Dublin, in 1710. He was an intimate friend of Swift, who materially aided his promotion in the church, appointed him one of his executors, and bequeathed him a portrait of Charles I by Vandyck, which Stopford had formerly given him. In 1727 Stopford resigned his fellowship on being appointed vicar of Finglas, near Dublin, by Lord Carteret, the lord-lieutenant. Finglas is a suburb of Dublin. Dr Patrick DELANY (1685?–1768), divine, was born in Ireland. He obtained a maintenance grant (sizarship) at Trinity College, Dublin. When Swift settled in Dublin after Queen Anne's death, Delany became one of his intimates.
