BURGOYNE

(Sir John Fox, 1782-1871, Engineer, Field Marshal)
Autograph Letter Signed to 'My dear Miss Jones'
saying that Nothing gives me more pleasure than to be any trifling service to you - I was allied for many years in most... gratifying friendship to your father & I entertain a great deal of the same feeling towards yourself, for your great kindness towards my daughter. I enclose the letter for Sir William Codrington..., (1804-1884, General and Politician who served in the Crimean War) which you desire & I feel confident that he will render you any service in his power... continuing that he will also write to the Commander in Gibraltar, and going on to say that Caroline has had a sever trial but is getting through it, as in all she has ever done through life, with deep feeling, combined with strong good sense - her children have been a great consolation... I myself have recently been very unwell... We all take a deep interest at all times, in hearing of your welfare & happiness..., 4 sides 8vo., 8 Gloucester Gardens, Hyde Park, 1st December
