Fine Autograph Letter signed to 'Dear Catherine'
(Dupré, 1926-2014, Artist and Author), saying that she had hoped for your quick & easy condemnation of what was boring in my ms. Nothing more. I wouldn't have thought of asking you to do this, had you not asked to see the mss & that you didn't want me to have it 'ghosted' as that might mean a destruction of what is there of my personality... I do hope your life is not going to be too exhausting - it sounds a bit devastating to me. I've been ill since you & Elizabeth came and had to go to 'bed with the doctor', but am up now. However, I've had to tell several friends who were due to visit me to wait... I reckon I should be back in circulation in about 2 or 3 weeks without a doubt... I've managed to get 'Galsworthy' from our Travelling Library! I'm in the middle of Rushdie's 'Midnight Children' which is thick to read, & will take up quite a slice of my life before I can read Gals, for Rushdie is on the urgency list. A wonderful book. ..., 2 sides 8vo., Tod House, Oxford, 20th January
