Background
HMS Renown was the lead ship of her class of battlecruisers of the Royal Navy built during the First World War but did not see combat during the war. In June 1919 she was refitted in preparation for a tour by the Prince of Wales and this photo is signed on the day that the ship sailed for Canada. Their first stop was St John's Newfoundland.
