Background
The Wredes, in Cologne in the Middle Ages, then Estonia and Livland, settled in Finland and were ennobled by Queen Christina in 1653 with the Finnish barony of Elim. In 1808 Carl Henrick Wrede fought in the defence of the land islands, when Russia attacked Sweden for her neutrality between France and Great Britain. In 1809 Finland and the islands became a Russian Grand Duchy and the Wredes remained Swedish. Carl Henrik's title is 'Baron of the younger line', his elder br other, the Fieldmarshal (Carl Fabian) having been made Count. Adam Florus Lilljecrona was 6th son to Major the Noble Gustav Adolph Lilljecrona (d. 1866), a family ennobled in 1637 and was a Captain when he died in 1878.
