showing the couple three quarters length, standing together arm in arm, he is wearing a formal jacket with a high collar and she is wearing a high necked dress with a decorated bodice, taken on the occasion of the royal couple's engagement, 6½ x 4½, no place, no date but 21st December

Background
The wedding was fixed for 27 Feb. 1892, but on 14 Jan. 1892 the duke died of pneumonia following influenza at Sandringham. May is wearing black which upset Queen Victoria and so another official photo had to be taken so this is a very rare image - only fifty copies were produced.
