Background
James Britten was heavily involved in the Catholic Truth Society. This had lapsed in 1872, but Britten helped revive it in 1884, and dominated the movement for many years. In 1896, during his time as secretary of the Society, they published Protestant Fiction. Together with a secretarial letter from Belloc to James Britten cancelling an appointment as he has to be down in Sussex, I find, on a rather urgent matter connected with a bit I am building..., 1 side 4to., Reform Club, Pall Mall, 5th November 1908.
