(Alexandra Dagmar, 1867-1931, Princess Royal, Duchess of Fife, Daughter of Edward VII)
Fine early ALS to Dearest Jonnie, her nanny,
hoping you are quite well now, I am sorry I did not write before but I really had no time at all we are either out or with Aunt BEATRICE (1857-1944, Queen Victoria's youngest daughter), we do lessons with her every morning... she hopes that London is not too dull and that the weather is fine, it is very nice & fine here only it rains sometimes. We have been to see all the people here with GRANDMAMA [Queen Victoria] & they are all quite well, and they all asked after mama & Papa & Tora..., she hopes that Jonnie had liked the flowers she sent and says that the hill look very pretty now there is some snow on a few of them & the trees are beginning to get green at which I am very glad. With our best love & many kisses..., 4 sides 8vo., Balmoral Castle headed paper, 26th May
