Autograph Letter signed to the Rev. Canon Wilton
saying it is a great pleasure to see your handwriting again. My Father will be very glad to read 'Yorkshire Folk Talk'. He is not able to write much himself so will you kindly convey his thanks. We move to Aldworth on Thursday..., 1 side 8vo., with original autograph envelope, Farringford, Isle of Wight headed paper, 25th June
Lord Tennyson was named after Arthur Hallam, the subject of 'In Memoriam'. He served as his father's secretary until the end of his life. Alfred Tennyson continued writing into his eighties. He died on 6th October 1892 at Aldworth, aged 83. This must be one of the last letters from Farringford before the poet died.
