Background
Barker was conductor of the Halle Orchestra, 1934-1940, of the Liverpool Philharmonic Society, 1935-1940 of the BBC Radio Northern Orchestra (even when the orchestra was conducted by another, his name was also mentioned as 'leader' of the orchestra), founder/conductor for 4 years of his own orchestra in Bridlington and performed all over the world.
