Background
Very unusual to find a portrait photo of the Prince with his first wife as they both retired from public life and lived quietly with his mother Grand Duchess Xenia at Hampton Court. The Princess was ill for many years which is why she was not seen in society. She died in the Blitz but actually already had cancer.
