Jellicoe was promoted to Admiral of the Fleet on 3 April 1919. He became Governor-General of New Zealand in September 1920 and while out there also served as Grand Master of New Zealand's Masonic Grand Lodge.From the family of Col. John Brown. He started in the territorial army in 1901 as a Lieutenant and retired in 1941 as Director General Territorial Army – as well as running a successful architectural practice. At this time he was a Colonel and commander of the 162nd (East Midland) Infantry Brigade and following that was on the board of the British Legion of which in 1930/34 he was Chairman.
