wife of Dr (later Sir) George Edward PAGET, (1809-1892, of Gonville & Caius, Cambridge, from 1872 Regius Professor of Physic), saying that her kind present of delicious pears would have been most welcome on any day but it is doubly so from coming on my birthday. By God's mercy I have now entered upon my '3 score & tenth' year, a period which Scripture mentions as the ordinary limit of a long life. God be praised mine has not only been a long life, but it has been a prosperous & a happy one full of comforts & blessings.
