Background
Carrodus took violin lessons from his father Thomas Carrodus, who was a barber and music-seller. He made his first appearance as a violinist at the age of nine, and before the London public four years later. He had the advantage of studying between the ages of twelve and eighteen at Stuttgart, with Bernhard Molique.
