King Gustav and Queen Louise of Sweden arrived in London on 28th June 1954 for their State Visit. They Ssled up the Thames to Greenwich in he Swedish Cruiser Tre Konor Whare. They were met by The Duke of Edinburgh accompanied by the Swedish Ambassador. The Royal Party then embarked in The Royal Barge for the journey up river to Westminster Pier. There, they were welcomed by The Queen, the Queen Mother, Princess Margaret and other Members of The Royal Family and the Viscount and Viscountess Waverley. After inspecting a Guard of Honour of the Cold stream Guards, the Swedish King and Queen drove to Buckingham Palace attended by a Sovereign's Escort of Household Cavalry.
